Conservative immigration policy: sponsor records (2026)
The Conservative statement of 6 February 2025 proposed a longer route to settlement. Its current Borders Plan also sets out enforcement changes. Neither party announcement is a new sponsor record-keeping instruction. Use them as review triggers if implemented, while following current official requirements.

A proposed settlement period is not a visa expiry
Settlement eligibility and evidence of current permission answer different questions.
The government has its own earned-settlement proposal and current guidance. Similar terminology does not make the two parties’ proposals identical, enacted or interchangeable. The hub keeps their sources and statuses separate.

- Wait for applicable final rules before revising a review procedure.
- Refer questions about an individual’s immigration position to an appropriately qualified adviser.
