Six questions that separate welder qualification software
How does it hold ranges?
Thickness, diameter, position and process should be fields you can read and filter. In Soteriaa you enter ranges as written on the certificate; it does not calculate or check them by code.
Does it watch the dates?
Continuity and revalidation should come to you rather than relying on someone checking a list. Soteriaa sends scheduled email reminders for both.
Can you follow the procedure trail?
An auditor follows the line from WPS to WPQR to the qualified welder. Ask each vendor to show that trail with one of your own records. In Soteriaa, a weld operation on a job records the welder, the qualification selected and the controlled WPS revision used.
Will it produce forms your auditor recognises?
Look for templates and printable records. Soteriaa prints WPS, WPQR and certificate records to PDF and offers free welding document templates.
How hard is migration?
Check whether you can import existing qualification PDFs and review what was extracted. Soteriaa imports welder qualification certificates this way; WPS/WPQR import is not available yet.
Is it honest about scope?
A good tool manages records and deadlines. It does not replace your examining body or your welding coordinator’s responsibility.
How Soteriaa handles continuity
A supervisor confirms continuity manually, recording the date, who confirmed it, the method, the next due date and an evidence link. The next due date defaults to six months later and is clamped to the end of the month when that day does not exist, so a confirmation on 31 August 2026 defaults to 28 February 2027. Every confirmation is kept as history and the screen shows the latest. Soteriaa never derives continuity from weld or production data. For the rules themselves, ISO 9606-1 requires validity to be confirmed every six months (TWI summary), and under ASME IX a qualification lapses if the welder has not used the process for six months (TWI).

A successful demonstration should leave you able to repeat the task yourself.
Soteriaa holds welders, welder qualification records (ISO 9606-1, ASME IX or AWS D1.1, recorded as written), WPS and WPQR records, and prints WPS, WPQR and certificate records to PDF. Ranges are entered by hand from the certificate or WPQR; Soteriaa does not calculate, check or approve them by code. Jobs hold a reference, customer, assembly or part, drawing and revision. Each weld operation records the welder, the qualification selected, the controlled WPS revision, the process, the material or heat reference and the inspection state; mismatches such as an overdue qualification or a superseded revision raise review warnings but do not decide eligibility. Issued PQR and WPS revisions are numbered, and earlier revisions are kept. Supporting documents have a version history, and each document linked to a job records the exact version, so a later library edit does not change it. A reviewer can issue a job traceability pack (PDF or Word) that keeps the versions it was issued with, and owners and admins can export the workspace or a single job as a ZIP of CSV and JSON files plus the original files, with a manifest of SHA-256 checksums. Reminders run daily at 07:00 UTC for continuity and revalidation due dates: 90, 60 and 7 days before by default (configurable from 1 to 365 days), plus an overdue reminder, sent to the workspace alert email or, if none is set, the owner.
