Soteriaa vs BrightHR

Soteriaa is not an alternative to BrightHR. It is the sponsor-licence layer BrightHR doesn't have. BrightHR is a capable all-in-one HR platform, and it already does right-to-work checks. What it doesn't do is sponsor-duty management: tracking Certificates of Sponsorship, sponsored-worker records, visa and BRP expiry against your licence, reportable changes, and assembling the audit pack a Home Office visit asks for. Keep BrightHR. Add Soteriaa for that one job: no migration, no rip-and-replace. Soteriaa is £25/month for up to 5 employees. BrightHR facts verified 13 July 2026.

Short answer

BrightHR and Soteriaa do different jobs with almost no overlap. BrightHR is your HR platform: records, absence, rotas, documents, a 24/7 advice line, and right-to-work checks. Soteriaa is the sponsor-licence layer: CoS records, sponsored-worker tracking, visa/BRP expiry against the licence, reportable changes, and the audit pack. Keep BrightHR. Add the one thing it doesn't do. No migration.

Right-to-work evidence and follow-up dates against the worker record.

One-click audit pack

A worker or licence pack assembled from your stored records on demand.

Plain-English query

Ask “whose visa expires in 90 days” and get a straight answer from your records. A deterministic resolver, not AI.

What Soteriaa does not do

Soteriaa is not an HR system and not a law firm. It gives no legal advice, makes no compliance determinations, never tells you that you are compliant, and never files to the Home Office Sponsor Management System. It does not extract or auto-fill data from documents, and it has no readiness score. Keep BrightHR for HR; use Soteriaa for the sponsor-licence records around it. Related: is the SMS enough?
FAQ

Soteriaa and BrightHR questions

Two products, two jobs. Here is where each one fits.
Is Soteriaa an alternative to BrightHR?
No. Soteriaa is the sponsor-licence compliance layer BrightHR doesn't have, not a replacement for it. Keep BrightHR for HR admin and right-to-work; add Soteriaa for sponsor-duty tracking. There is no migration and no rip-and-replace.
Doesn't BrightHR already do right to work?
Yes. BrightHR has a native right-to-work check that gives a statutory excuse, and Soteriaa does not replace that. Soteriaa adds the sponsor-specific layer around your sponsored workers: CoS records, visa and BRP expiry against the licence, reportable changes, and the audit pack.
What sponsor-compliance does BrightHR not cover?
BrightHR markets no sponsor-licence capability. It does not track Certificates of Sponsorship, keep sponsored-worker records against your licence, monitor sponsored-visa/BRP expiries, log reportable changes, or generate an audit pack. That is precisely the gap Soteriaa fills.
Do I have to replace BrightHR to use Soteriaa?
No. Soteriaa runs alongside BrightHR. You keep BrightHR for holidays, absence, rotas, documents, and right-to-work; you use Soteriaa for the sponsor-compliance records, deadlines, and evidence BrightHR doesn't handle.
Why add Soteriaa's cost on top of BrightHR?
BrightHR is priced per employee per month, so at any real headcount adding Soteriaa's flat £25–£149 is a small, predictable line rather than a doubling. And the stakes differ: an HR-admin slip is inconvenient; a sponsor-duty failure can cost the licence and every sponsored worker with it. Between October and December 2025, 1,500+ employers were stripped of their sponsor licence, up from 541 the previous quarter, with poor record-keeping a common issue.
Can Soteriaa tell me I'm compliant or report to the Home Office?
No. Soteriaa gives visibility of what is recorded and what is outstanding. It makes no compliance determinations, gives no legal advice, and never files to the Home Office Sponsor Management System. Official reporting stays with you.

Keep BrightHR. Add the layer it doesn't have.
