Best food contact compliance software: how to choose
Three kinds of help
Decide what you need before you compare. For what a declaration must contain, see the declaration of compliance guide.
Food packaging compliance platforms
Software that holds material data, supplier documents and declarations, and checks them against regulations. Usually sold to larger manufacturers and converters.
Registers and templates
A structured list of which declaration applies to which supplier and lot. It records that the paperwork exists; it does not assess compliance.
Testing and declaration services
Laboratories and certification bodies that run migration tests, review declarations or help draft them. A service, not software you keep.

| Product (vendor) | What it says it does for food contact | Type, and other notes | Published price | Source, date checked |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Packaging Compliance (FoodChain ID) | Says it automates declaration of compliance creation, centralises supplier data, keeps material data, specifications and compliance in one platform, and tracks global regulations to alert you to changes. A separate Packaging Migration Modelling product offers virtual migration simulations before laboratory testing | Software. The page cites 200+ regions and countries covered; it does not name GB rules or Regulation 10/2011 | Not published; demonstration on request | Packaging Compliance page and packaging page; checked October 2026 |
| Declaration of Compliance Register template (MangoApps) | An inspection template that records whether a current declaration is on file for each supplier lot, its issue date and revision, the stated use conditions and regulatory basis, links to supporting test reports, and corrective actions for missing or expired declarations | A template inside a general safety and compliance app. The page says it is not a substitute for a supplier approval programme and is not meant to approve a material on its own | Safety & Compliance suite $45 per specialist per month, 10 minimum (currency shown as $); the template is included | template page and pricing page; checked October 2026 |
| DoC management packages (TÜV Rheinland) | Says it gathers information, checks existing documentation, performs the necessary testing including migration testing, and prepares a ready-to-sign declaration of compliance; cites Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 for plastics | A service, ordered as a customised package, not software | Not published; order form asks for contact details | DoC management page; checked October 2026 |
| Food contact testing and compliance services (UL Solutions) | Lists overall and specific migration testing for plastics under Regulation 10/2011, checking the declaration of compliance required under Regulation 1935/2004, and help to obtain, check and draft food grade declarations | A service, not software. Also lists US, China and Japan rules; the page says testing typically takes two to six weeks | Not published; contact form | food contact services page; checked October 2026 |
Vendor facts come only from each vendor’s own website, read on 14 October 2026. “Not published” means we could not find a price on the vendor’s site. Prices change: confirm features, price and contract terms with the vendor before buying. Inclusion is not endorsement, and the order is not a ranking.

Questions to ask any vendor
Use these with any vendor, including ones not listed here.
For the rules behind these questions, read food contact supporting documentation and food contact migration test records.
- Does it cover the assimilated rules in Great Britain, not only the current EU text? If you supply Northern Ireland or the EU, does it cover both?
- Can it hold a declaration of compliance with its date, version and the batches it covers, and keep superseded versions?
- Can it link each declaration to the test reports, calculations and supplier declarations behind it?
- Does it record the use conditions (food types, time, temperature, surface area to volume) so you can check them against your use?
- Can it flag when a declaration should be reviewed, such as after a change of supplier, formulation or regulation?
- Does it keep an audit trail of who changed what and when?
- Can you export all your records without the vendor’s help?
How we compared
We read each vendor’s own product, template or service page and, where one exists, its pricing page on 14 October 2026, and recorded what they say they do for food contact materials, what kind of offer it is and whether they publish a price. Where a vendor publishes no price, we write “not published” rather than estimate. We did not run hands-on tests or trials, and the order of the table is not a ranking. Products whose own pages we read did not mention food contact materials were left out, as were vendors we could not verify on their own website.
FAQ
Common questions
What is the best food contact compliance software?
It depends on what you need. A manufacturer with many materials and suppliers may want a platform that holds declarations and supplier data; a small food business may only need a register of which declaration covers which supply, plus a laboratory for testing. Ask each vendor for a price for your volume.
Do these tools publish prices?
One of the four, MangoApps, published a per-user price for the suite that includes its declaration register template on the pages we read on 14 October 2026. The others asked for a demonstration request or contact details.
Does software make a material compliant?
No. Software can hold and organise declarations and evidence. Whether a material complies depends on its composition, testing and use, and the business placing it on the market remains responsible.
Did you test these tools?
No. This comparison uses each vendor’s own published information, read on 14 October 2026.
